Cody is 23-years-old and a fresh face in the industry, having just completed his first year in his role as a Truck driver at Brianna. Previously a sheet metal worker, Cody was sick of the repetitive work involved, and the lack of freedom that comes from feeling stuck in a shed all day. He’d always loved trucks, watching his Dad work in the mines and later at Brianna, so when an opportunity came up at the company, Cody decided to throw his resume in – and hasn’t looked back since.
“When I’m on I’m on. But when I need to, I’ve got the flexibility to do what I love.”
Now two years in, Cody is loving it. He loves the variety of the role and the different places and pick-ups involved, with no two days ever the same. He gets to meet a lot of people and enjoys the thinking space that comes with a long drive, taking in the beautiful Tasmanian scenery along the way. Not only that, his boss is good and fair, and the role is full of the flexibility and easy-going nature he craved. It’s a world of difference to strict workplaces he’s experienced in the past.
Cody’s big passions are dirt biking and camping, and through transport he’s found a career that can take him anywhere. His big dream is to travel the country as a truck driver, driving complicated roadtrains one day, and camping and dirt biking the next. In his words, he’s stoked that he can see the country and get paid to do it.
